Actually, there’s a wide range of architectural styles. Downtown, old clashes with new in slightly bizarre ways:

State House

See the little, uber-historic State House in the middle?

Cambridge is famed for the redbrick of Harvard and for suburban wooden houses, but it does stray into European modernism in places, at least in the dark:

In fact, you have to go to Jamaica Plain to see the famed New England wooden house take on a more colourful life:

But for all its wealth, Boston has its fair share of dereliction:

    So sorry I missed your trip to Beantown! There’s some pretty hott architecture in my area, too, which I’ll send to you if my eye ever finds its way to the right end of a digital camera :)
